first descanso

that´s right it´s already been twenty-two days and we get our first eight days off. wee just took the saturday night launcha into town and we´re leaving here on a bus at six in the morning we were hoping for the three a.m. bus but they don´t do it on sunday mornings. we´re heading to antigua to take some spanish classes and hang out and enjoy electricity and maybe a hot shower if we´re lucky. things here are good it´s weird how fast you move up at an orphanage and how quickly the turnover rate is with volunteers. we had a doctor move in to the clinic, she only lasted a few days and we heard she left, she said something personal came up but i really don´t think it´s what she was expecting, which is what happens when you believe the website that hasn´t been updated in probably a few months. it rained for three days straight and it´s threatening to do it again, i don´t remember the last time i saw the sun, but it´s over rated anyway. being the fisica educacion teacher for a few weeks has been pretty fun, the hardest thing is ending class when all they want to do is play more basket ball or futbal and i have to chase kids around trying to get the balls back, trying to threaten them with punishment if they don´t listen. i guess things are pretty good when that´s the least of your worries. the living situation is doing good i haven´t had too many problems with the rats in my room, it´s always a little nerve racking when you wake up in the middle of the night to rat´s on top (top bunk/shelf) of your bed squeeking and going about their business finding your scraps. after three straight days of rain, nothing doesn´t have mold on it, talk about a bad time to have just done your laundry and not enough time for it to dry, so every article of clothing and shoes have mold and my wallet?! and camera case and my skin... no not my skin, i hope that doesn´t happen. food´s been good, rice and beans-the ol´stand by. the kids get to fish sometimes on the weekend and we cook those up and everybody gets to eat them, although we told them today they could fish and we would eat it for lunch but they had to catch enough for everybody to eat fish, which i thought is a lot of pressure and of course no one wanted to fish when they had to, so that didn´t happen. all of us have been pretty healthy here, when it comes to food, i think the three of us have the strongest stomachs because we eat anything and drink any water they do and haven´t had one problem. although there´s been a few minor other things like some swelling and infections but don´t worry as of right now we´re all top notch. i had a ear infection/swimmers ear that was pretty bad, i couldn´t hear out of it and it was worse than any ear infection i´ve ever had but the doctor was still here and i was able to get some ear drops for it. cole had a pretty big infection on his foot, which made his foot look like three times the size of his other foot and thad had some sort of heat rash or something on his back but he´s got off easy so far, so i´m sure he´ll get something worse here soon so don´t worry he won´t be left out. the monkey´s have been pretty entertaining today, there call is this really deep moan/grunt that sounds like a huge beast of an animal but they are no bigger than a six year old with long arms. today we watched them leap from tree to tree, one specific leap was a good twenty foot leap, we kept hoping one would fall and we could rehabilitate it and give it a little hat and maybe an acordian but that was just wishful thinking i guess... well i´m out of things to say and everyone´s going over to sundog (local bar) so i´m going to head on over.
good talking to ya

this week pictures are coming i promise!

Haha, when you were talking about how fast you move up within the orphanage and then how the doctor quit, I thought you were going to say you got her job or something. Anyway it sounds like things are going swell (except for the mold--ew) and that monkey thing made me laugh out loud.
